YWCA of San Gabriel Valley

Mission

The YWCA is a women’s membership movement nourished by its roots in the Christian faith and sustained by the richness of many beliefs and values. Strengthened by diversity, the Association draws together members who strive to create opportunities for women’s growth, leadership, and power in order to attain a common vision:

Peace, justice freedom, and dignity for all people.

The Association will thrust our collective power toward the elimination of racism where it exists and by any means necessary.

Purpose

The YWCA of San Gabriel Valley is dedicated to providing unique and necessary programs which help empower women, enrich their lives, and find solutions to social problems such as racism, sexism, poverty, and violence.

The YWCA Mission and Purpose will be carried out in the East San Gabriel Valley communities by promoting programs which:

  • Offer education for personal development;
  • Eliminate violence against women by providing programs designed to meet the needs of battered women and their children;
  • Provide low cost recreational and health promotion services;
  • Offer affordable child care and child development;
  • Provide community based services for older persons.
