"Fight Like a Girl!" 2005

When the local police converged on the YWCA, we loved it!

They came to join with the Oxygen Network, Charter Communications, and the YWCA to present the 4th FREE self-defense workshop for women. "Fight Like a Girl." The workshop was held Monday, August 1, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the YWCA Administrative Office.

Participants learn to scream, punch, hit and psychologically protect themselves. Whether you were young or old, qualified self-defense instructors and law enforcement officials taught the importance of avoidance, and when necessary, how to defend yourself against an attacker.

The YWCA of San Gabriel Valley wishes to thank Amy Taylor (National Account Manager) of the Oxygen Network; and Sandra Magana (Director of Government Relations) at Charter Communicatons. We also want to thank Officer Antonio Cortina of the West Covina Police Department and Sinsei Rev. Toshio Kuramoto - Sixth Degree Black Belt Instructor and his daughter.

This workshop would not be possible without such support.
