Child Care & Services

"It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men [and women]." - Frederick Douglas

We believe that the community, the parent, and the child deserve high quality day care which:

  • Provides an enriching setting where children become individuals who can develop wholesome social relationships
  • Provides experiences that match the developmental needs, interests, and disabilities of the child
  • Provides high quality care to working parents at a reasonable rate
  • Helps parents and teachers connect and address common interests and concerns regarding their children
  • Offers a facility that is safe and easily accessible
  • Provides culturally sensitive settings that unifies various religious and ethnic backgrounds and works for the common interests of the children

We cultivate an environment that foster the ideals of democratic living, cooperation, self-reliance, and understanding among peers. These ideals give children a solid foundation for making decisions that will affect their lives, the lives of their family, and eventually the lives of the people in their community. Good citizenship is learned.

The YWCA of San Gabriel Valley currently offers Extended Day Care and Summer Camp Programs for children 5 to 12 years of age at one location in West Covina. The Cameron Extended Day Care Center is licensed through the State of California, Department of Social Services under Title 22 regulations. All staff are required to have fingerprints, criminal record clearance, and clearance through the Department of Justice. All staff are to have the required education in Early Childhood Education that is mandated by Title 22 regulations. All staff are also trained and certified in CPR and First Aid.
